Crestwood Business Park

Project Description

Vantage Professional Services was appointed by Crestwood Commercial Developments Ltd to deliver a high-voltage infrastructure upgrade to support the expansion of Crestwood Business Park in Cambridgeshire. The project required the design and installation of new HV and LV distribution networks, the construction of a 132kV substation, and associated civil engineering works to accommodate increasing electrical demand from new industrial tenants. All works were delivered under tight timescales while maintaining continuous service to existing businesses on site.

Initial Condition:
The development site had limited electrical capacity and outdated infrastructure that was insufficient for modern industrial use. There was also restricted space for substation construction and access constraints due to ongoing site operations.

Electrical & Structural Upgrade:
– Design and installation of new HV ring main units and LV distribution panels
– Construction of a 132kV substation, including reinforced concrete base and structural steelwork
– Installation of new cable containment systems, ducts, and protective barriers
– HV and LV cable jointing and terminations by authorised DNO-approved operatives
– All electrical work delivered to BS 7671 and ENA standards

External Works:
– Excavation, duct installation, and reinstatement across live business park routes
– Thrust bore installations to avoid disruption to key access roads
– Substation fencing, lighting, and security infrastructure installed
– Coordination with telecoms and water authorities for utility avoidance and compliance

Internal Fit-Out:
– Full rewire including lighting, power, data, and emergency systems
– Supply and installation of efficient LED lighting throughout
– Structured cabling and containment for comms and control systems
– Coordination with mechanical services for integration of heating and ventilation control
– Internal partitioning, flooring, and finishes suitable for light industrial or operational use

Final Commissioning & Handover:
– HV and LV systems tested, energised, and certified
– All equipment commissioned in partnership with DNO engineers
– Handover documentation, testing certificates, and training provided to the client
– Substation and infrastructure fully operational ahead of schedule
